Maryland's Cherie Shreve pleads guilty to insurance fraud after steal from practice; two decades of collection suits

What is is about Maryland (MD) these days?  We seem to be seeing an unusual number of embezzlement matters there.
Our next "subject" is Cherie Shreve, who sometimes goes by Cherie Tracy-Shreve.  Interestingly, it appears that she knows another Maryland embezzler, Kristi Heffington (read about Kristi HERE).

Cases of dental office embezzlement are, at their core, a breach of trust and a form of employee theft that can go undetected for years.

Update: Guilty Plea and Restitution Judgment

Maryland Judiciary records show the indictment (State of Maryland v. Cherie Lynn Shreve, Prince George’s County Circuit Court case CT180614B) ended with a guilty plea on September 21, 2018 to felony insurance fraud — providing false or misleading information — before Judge Graydon McKee, for conduct dating back to December 2014. A companion restitution judgment (J-CT180614B) was entered against her the same day.

A Familiar Pattern in the Civil Courts

The same records search shows Shreve as a defendant in roughly twenty civil actions between 1991 and 2019 — collection suits by Capital One, Great Seneca Financial, Midland Credit, Ford Motor Credit, Mariner Finance, and Credit Acceptance; hospital-bill suits by St. Agnes Healthcare and Harbor Hospital; two bail-bond collection actions; and a 1997 foreclosure. Several judgments remain open. As with so many of the cases Prosperident investigates, chronic personal financial distress preceded the workplace fraud — and a routine civil-records check would have surfaced it before hiring.
