Troubled Florida oral surgeon Dr. John Rowe pleaded guilty to embezzling from practice where he worked; sentenced to 3.5 years in prison

Dr. John Rowe, 49, an oral surgeon practicing in St. Cloud, Florida, was sentenced to five years in state prison and agreed to surrender his dental license after pleading guilty to one count of organized fraud, 51 counts of receiving unlawful compensation, and one count of grand theft.

Rowe admitted to charging patients for anesthesia services and simultaneously billing Medicaid for the same treatment — despite never having administered the drugs, according to Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Jack McLaughlin. The case was prosecuted in Leon County Circuit Court.
