Frances Aguirre, 32, a dental office assistant at Vista Village Dental in Ventura County, California, was prosecuted on three felony counts of insurance fraud after investigators established that she collected workers' compensation disability benefits while simultaneously working at a mall kiosk.
The case was developed by Probe Information Services, whose investigator conducted surveillance confirming Aguirre's concurrent employment during the period in which she was receiving medical and disability benefits. When interviewed, Aguirre denied having any other employment or earning income — a statement directly contradicted by employment and wage records obtained by investigators. The Ventura County District Attorney's Office prosecuted the case, resulting in a sentence of 120 days in jail.
