Jill Jeter, 46, a dental receptionist in Carson City, Nevada, was convicted by a jury on five counts of embezzlement for intercepting cash payments made to the dental office where she worked between September 1 and December 22, 1999. Rather than recording the payments in the practice's accounting system, Jeter retained the funds for herself.
The jury deliberated approximately three hours before returning five guilty verdicts, according to Deputy District Attorney Jason Woodbury. Jeter faced a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $50,000 fine, with sentencing scheduled for April 15.
