Kristie Dunn Johnson, 48, of Pearisburg, Virginia, pleaded guilty to four counts of embezzlement in Montgomery County Circuit Court, admitting to stealing $60,433.36 from Huff Dentistry of Blacksburg over an extended period that included pocketing patient co-payments directly at the time of service.
Judge Robert Turk imposed four consecutive three-year prison terms — totaling twelve years of incarceration — and then suspended the entire sentence, placing Johnson on supervised probation for ten years. As a condition of her sentence, she was ordered to repay the full $60,433.36 to Huff Dentistry through the court and was prohibited from any further contact with the business. Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Nicole Terry noted that Johnson had exploited a position of trust. Johnson addressed the court with an emotional statement expressing remorse for the harm she had caused.
