Michele Williams was fired from the Keller, Texas orthodontic practice where she worked on suspicion of embezzlement. Weeks before her firing became public, her husband Greg Williams was found shot to death in their home in October 2011; Michele first blamed an intruder and later claimed suicide.
After withdrawing an 18-year plea deal — which she had accepted in early 2014 while publicly denying guilt — she was convicted by a Tarrant County jury of murder and evidence tampering on September 29, 2014, and sentenced to 60 years in prison, with no parole eligibility for 30 years. The dental embezzlement that cost Williams her job was never separately prosecuted; it was eclipsed by the murder case that followed.
