Olivia Rutty, 31, a practice manager at Pure Dental Health and Wellbeing in Truro, England, was sentenced to prison after being convicted of stealing £35,370 from the practice over the course of her ten-year employment. Truro Crown Court heard that Rutty used the stolen funds to pay for hotel stays, event tickets, furniture, and clothing, while later claiming financial hardship when confronted.
To conceal the theft, Rutty enlisted her builder husband Nicholas to submit invoices for work that was either never performed or charged at significantly inflated prices. The court rejected her claim that the funds had been used to repay debts.
