A state appellate court this week upheld the sentence and a six-figure restitution order imposed on Vanessa Lentino, of Solano County, California, convicted of embezzling from a local dentist.
In an opinion filed Tuesday, the state Court of Appeal, First Appellate District upheld a four-year county jail sentence and $200,391 restitution order against Vanessa Lentino, a former bookkeeper for the dental offices of Dr. James D. Prigmore, for which there were offices in Vallejo and Fairfield. According to the court filing, Lentino worked as a bookkeeper for Prigmore's dental practice from October 2009 until July 2011. Prigmore's son succeeded her as bookkeeper and soon discovered the defendant had forged business checks to herself totaling $36,515.30. He contacted the police in August 2011.
