2 N.J. women Carla Sousa and Raquel Silva charged in alleged dental steal
New Jersey's Carla Sousa and Raquel Silva were arrested and charged with allegedly defrauding private health insurers from August 2013 to February 2015. Sousa, who formerly worked for a Cedar Grove, N.J., dentist, is accused of falsely billing insurers for unprovided dental services, including 10 claims that were under Silva’s name, and keeping the reimbursements for herself, authorities say. Sousa allegedly collected $32,661 in improper payments while Silva is accused of cashing in checks totaling $2,263. The enterprising ladies were sentenced to fines and restitution.
