Carmen Burgado, 48, a Florida dental assistant, was charged with workers' compensation fraud, grand theft, and perjury after allegedly failing to disclose to a subsequent employer that she had previously collected a $17,000 workers' compensation settlement for a claimed latex allergy while employed at a different dental office. Burgado surrendered on the charges and was booked into the Duval County Jail. The investigation was conducted by the Florida Department of Financial Services.
