Keeping the World Safe for Dentists
This month, we were pleased to see two embezzlement victims receive justice against those who stole from them.
Danielle Powers of Las Vegas, who victimized three dentists in the Las Vegas area for about $300,000, was sentenced to eight years in prison and restitution. You can read about Danielle, and see Scott Clifford, Prosperident's lead investigator, discuss the case HERE.
But Scott's work didn't end with Danielle. In another of his investigations dentists in Texas were made a bit safer when Tawana Barnes of Saginaw TX got a seven-year sentence thanks to Scott's work. You can read about Tawana HERE. Well done, Scott!
The View from the CEO's Chair
In June, I had the privilege of giving a presentation on leadership to an elite group of dental consultants. My theme was how I apply the leadership lessons gained in my twelve years of military service in running Prosperident.
Military organizations face the toughest leadership challenge imaginable (accomplishing the mission in the face of an enemy who shoots back) and accordingly produce some of the finest leaders.
One of my focal points in my talk was that "leaders eat last", the concept that military leaders visibly put the welfare of their followers before their own.
A second trait of military leaders is that they develop other leaders. An example I pointed to was Amber Weber-Gonzales, who, since coming to Prosperident four years ago, has become a published author, an accomplished speaker, and was recently named as the head of our Proactive Services Group.
Another key point I made was that leaders are clear on their values and live them daily. This point was easy for me to speak on, because Prosperident's core values are deeply ingrained. For your benefit, here they are:
  1. We serve only the dental profession and no one else,
  2. We serve them with integrity and professionalism, and
  3. We never stop trying to get better at what we do.
You will not find those values on our website or on a wall at our head office. They don't need to be -- they exist in our heads and hearts, and we think about them daily.
It was slightly intimidating to speak to a group made up of accomplished leaders on the topic of leadership, but I'm glad that I had the chance to do so, and there is always value for me in articulating what I believe in.
My door is always open to the dental profession. If you would like to discuss your practice, click HERE to speak with me.
